The Mossed Monarchs
Seeing elk among the oaks and maples of the east coast is a rare sight. Taken in the heart of the Appalachian mountains, these fellows gave the feeling of being inside a Lord of the Rings movie. The one up front had clearly had a tough rut of the season with a broken antler, yet stood with tall stature and might. Early mornings are my favorite time to shoot, with the light coming through the fog, the fall colors and the mossy logs, these truly ensemble the kings of the forest.
